Motsepe admitted that Sundowns made transfer mistakes in the past, but he's pleased with the acquisitions of Vilakazi, Mohomi and South American defender Nascimento
Mamelodi Sundowns president Patrice Motsepe has welcomed new signings Sibusiso Vilakazi, Lucky Mohomi and Ricardo Nascimento to the club.
Vilakazi completed his move to the Brazilians on Sunday morning, while both Mohomi and Nascimento were acquired from Free State Stars and Academica respectively a few weeks ago.
Motsepe said they had been monitoring Vila for quite some time, adding that he's confident the Soweto-born star will contribute positively to the club's success going forward.
The Sundowns boss is already looking forward to what he feels will be the toughest PSL season in many years.
“We are excited to welcome Sibusiso Vilakazi to the Mamelodi Sundowns family. We have been monitoring him for quite some time and I am confident that he will make a huge contribution to the growth and success of Sundowns. We are now taking a longer time monitoring and assessing players who we think will fit in with our style and culture of play before we acquire them," Motsepe told the Sundowns website.
"We have made mistakes in the past and we hope that we have learned from our mistakes. We are also very happy to welcome Lucky Mohomi and Ricardo Nascimento to Mamelodi Sundowns. What excites me a lot about Mohomi is not only that he is an excellent player but also that he comes from Mamelodi which is where Sundowns has its roots," he continued.
"Ricardo is a very good player that we have been assessing for the past two years. South African football is becoming much more competitive and I think the upcoming football season is most probably going to be the toughest in many years," concluded Motsepe.
