Coke sent Sevilla into the lead from outside the area before scoring again

Liverpool lost in the Europa League final against Sevilla after suffering a staggering second-half collapse in Basle on Wednesday night.

Daniel Sturridge put Liverpool ahead with a brilliant curled strike but the Reds were pegged back by Kevin Gameiro before falling behind to a Coke double.

Sportsmail's Pete Jenson was at St Jakob-Park to rate both sides...

LIVERPOOL (4-2-3-1)

Simon Mignolet 5.5 - Good save from Gameiro after first goal but nowhere near the goals and doesn't inspire confidence.

Nathaniel Clyne 6.5 - Constant threat on the overlap in the first half but much less convincing when called on to defend.

Dejan Lovren 5.5 - Unnecessary yellow card after kicking Gameiro off the pitch. His idea of a reducer didn't work.

Kolo Toure 6 - A rock in the first half but, despite a great block on Gameiro, couldn't prevent collapse after the break.

Alberto Moreno 5 - Failed his big test as he cost Liverpool the opening goal and provided little cover all game.

James Milner 6 - The patron saint of pressing drove Liverpool on in the first half

Emre Can 6 - Bullied Sevilla’s playmaker Ever Banega from the first kick, but lost control in the second half.

Adam Lallana 5.5 - No decisive impact. Has the ability to make his mark in these games but they pass him by far too often.

Roberto Firmino 5.5 - Played a big part in the goal but never took advantage of the central responsibility given to him by Klopp.

Philippe Coutinho 5.5 - Frantic game passed him by. Neither threatened Sevilla nor protected Moreno on the wing.

Daniel Sturridge 7 - Always a danger and the elegance of his goal was a wonderful reminder of his natural talent.

SUBS

Joe Allen 6 - Came on when the game had already got away from Liverpool and was unable to turn the tide.

Divock Origi 6 - Klopp’s first change and he put himself about, picking up a card.

Christian Benteke 6 - The last card but gave away fouls instead of capitalising on the absence of Adil Rami.

Manager

Jurgen Klopp 7 - Proactive with Origi substitution as the game slipped away.

Yellows: Clyne, Lovren.

SEVILLA (4-2-3-1)

David Soria 6 - Safe handling when dealing with routine shots but nothing he could do about the Liverpool goal.

Mariano Ferreira 8 - Warning signs for Liverpool were there but weren't heeded as he set up the equaliser.

Adil Rami 6 - Looked pedestrian at times, none more so when he left Sturridge with too much room for the opener.

Daniel Carrico 6 - Lucky not to concede a first-half penalty when he handled but did well to hook the ball off line early on.

Sergio Escudero 6 - Ran ragged by Clyne early on but recovered his composure and grew into the game.

Steven N'Zonzi 6 - Failed to stamp his authority on a midfield dominated by Can and Milner early on but improved.

Grzegorz Krychowiak 6 - Another who was lucky not to concede a penalty with a first-half handball. Looks a class act though.

Coke 7 - Offered balance down the right and scored twice to turn the final on its head.

Ever Banega 7 - The calm in the chaos. Not afraid to put his foot on the ball while everyone else was going at 100mph.

Vitolo 6 -  Bombed forward and tracked back tirelessly. Booked for a trip on Lallana in the second half.

Kevin Gameiro 7 - Great at finding space in the area. Did so for the goal from Mariano’s pass. Should have had a second.

SUBS

Timothee Kolodziejczak 6 - Experience told when he came on for the injured Rami

Vicente Iborra 6 - Helped his team run down the clock.

Manager

Unai Emery 8 - Whatever he said at half-time it worked. Never found wanting.

Yellows: Ferreira, Rami, Banega, Vitolo.

Referee: Jonas Eriksson 6 - Erred on the side of leniency but missed two clear handballs.
