GONZALEZ: I WILL KEEP WORKING HARD

Man City U18s striker Lorenzo Gonzalez says it’s up to him to continue his impressive goalscoring form.

The Swiss youth international bagged a brace to hand the Blues a 2-0 U18 Premier League win over Sunderland, extending his record of scoring whenever he starts.

Naturally delighted with his goal-to-game ratio, the teenager insists he must remain focused, if he is to achieve his ultimate goal.

“At the moment, when I start, I score but I will keep working hard,” he told ManCity.com.

“My job is to score and I am very happy, but I will keep working hard.”

Reflecting on the triumph over the Black Cats, which stretched City’s unbeaten run to 16 games, Gonzalez added: “I think it was an important win for us. We should keep working hard.

“It was good to begin the game well with confidence. Then, we can play how we know how to play and it was important to score at the beginning of the game.

Asked of his favourite of the two strikes, he replied: “I think the first one was more beautiful but the second one was a good team play. It was good teamwork, so that was very good.

“Every goal is beautiful!”

There is little time for the Blues to reflect with an FA Youth Cup clash with Liverpool on Wednesday night – a game Gonzalez is already looking ahead to.

“I hope we can have a great result against Liverpool and qualify for the next round,” he continued

“The team are looking forward to this game. It’s going to be very good and it’s always a great experience to play in the Academy Stadium. More fans can come and we need them for the support.

“I’m sure we will show a lot of good things. I am excited about it and I hope the fans will come and support us.”
